PARIS, FRANCE – Hours ago, OPPO just spilled the beans and opened the curtains for newest premium smartphone offering – the notch-less, and actually awesome Find X.
First of all, the OPPO Find X is probably the best in terms of designs across OPPO smartphones out there. It boasts trendy design features such as the idea of being bezel-less, curved, edgy display and even making it efficient so that despite its 6.4-inch display size, you can still grasp it with one hand.
Aside from that, the Find X is the second smartphone to ditch the notch on going bezel-less, second to the Vivo NEX. It claims to have a screen to body ratio of 93.8 percent, which is the largest among phones that are currently on the market.
Probably the most interesting part of the Find X is its implementation of the front camera system and sensors, where the other phone makers are struggling to figure out and have resorted to using the notch instead.
When you open the camera app, the Find X’s front camera pops on the top as the entire top section of the phone slides up automagically and reveals its 25-megapixel front-facing camera, 3D facial scanning system, as well as the 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel dual rear camera. Just like the Vivo NEX, when you close the camera app or it detects that it doesn’t require the use of the components up top, the whole assembly slides back into the phone’s chassis. OPPO claims that the camera can open in just 0.5 seconds.
In terms of specifications, OPPO’s Find X contains the usual 2018 flagship smartphone starter pack, and actually made it more: a Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It might seem more than what you actually need, but take note that there’s no expandability option on this one.
Aside from omitting the expandability option, OPPO also joined the bandwagon on ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack, and also boasted enough courage to omit the fingerprint reader as well to be replaced with its own version of Face ID, dubbed as O-Face Recognition.

Pricing and Availability
The OPPO Find X, while it has all the rings and bells for a flagship device, also boasts a surprisingly premium price of EUR 999 or ~US$ 1,155 / PhP60-70K. It’s the first time OPPO had offered a product that is much costlier than Samsung, or even Apple’s offering. It’s also going to be the OPPO’s first phone to be sold in Europe and North America.
It’ll be available starting August in Europe, with other key markets to follow soon.
